Suvigya Sharma

World renowned Indian Miniature artist Suvigya Sharma was honoured with the 7th Bharat Gaurav Award 2019 at the House of Commons in British Parliament in London on July 19th, 2019. Suvigya is the first Indian Miniature artist to receive this Award for his contribution towards keeping this art form alive and promoting it worldwide through his art shows and auctions. The Bharat Gaurav Award is conferred upon individuals and organizations who make a difference to the youth and the communities around them with their remarkable contribution.
Suvigya, is a third-generation artist from the renown Sharma family of Jaipur, who had grown up watching artists at work in his own family. In his career, he has redefined many traditional forms like the Pichwaiis, and taken the element of painstaking detail from the tradition of Indian miniatures, to the art of modern portraiture. He has also experimented with classic Tanjore painting styles, often fusing them with miniatures, using 24K gold.
His works are in the private collection of several Industrial and celebrity families in India, starting from our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the Ambanis, Ms. Rajshri Birla, Binanis, Singhanias, Burmans, Piramals, Mr Sachin Tendulkar, Actress Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukerji, Kangana Ranaut. He has been in this arena for the last three decades or so.
Another aspect to his career, has been the restoring of heritage artworks in India and overseas, like working on the frescoes and wall art at the iconic City Palace of Jaipur, as well as the Singapore Art Museum and more. He holds impressive titles with the Asia Book Of Records, India Book Of Records and the Limca Book of Records.
His awards include the Rajasthan Gaurav Award, Pride of Rajasthan Award, Rajashthan’s ‘Most Powerful 10’ and soon, he will be receiving the President Award by our Honourable President “Shri Ramnath Kovind Sir” at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The artist has also been relentlessly working towards developing this art as a skill amongst the youth in Jaipur through his wife’s NGO. Suvigya envisages proliferating his artwork internationally through his skill development initiatives, thereby creating a global demand for the rare Indian art form.
