    Shravan Shankar

    Shravan has been working in the realm of sustainable development since 2009 in various capacities, including: consulting large to small organizations, in India, Asia, and Europe, towards more sustainable outlooks, and developing large-scale high-value funded projects for sustainable development adoption in Indian industry, supported by the UK’s Department for International Development, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the European Union’s Sustainable Consumption and Production program.

    His work has also included policy and government work, including India’s National Manufacturing Plan; research for India’s Rio +20 negotiations, and the Government of Sri Lanka’s The National Green Reporting System of Sri Lanka, recognized as a flagship sustainability program of the country in the UN’s Rio +20 Summit in 2012. I have also been recognized with a National Award on Smart City Solutions by the Prime Minister of India, as part of the Government of India’s Smart City Mission.

    Currently, Shravan work on sustainability mainly through two capacities: as an empanelled expert on sustainability with organizations, on topics ranging from sustainability strategy, to integrated reporting and non-financial valuation, and as an adviser to businesses in India, Japan, and Africa focused on creating growth-focused sustainable business models.

    Shravain is also the co-founder of AtWorks, an organization that has developed an ecosystem platform to support startups, small businesses, freelancers, etc. to build more successful businesses, and recognized by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as a Circular Economy Solution for India.

    Shravan is also the founding core member of an international platform for sustainability practitioners, Next Leaders’ Initiative in Sustainability (NELIS), based in Japan, and a co-founder of OpenAct, a dialogue platform in India to spark new ways for collaborative development between society and the planet.
