News is the public square of our digital age. It empowers, entertains, shapes opinion, sparks debate and drives legislation.

News can be so much more, however, or so much less. To get a sense of where news can go now, Newslaundry and Teamwork Arts come together for the fourth time to present the Digital series this year. Stay tune for more details. Through panel discussions, masterclasses, film screenings, TMR 2020 will bring to the discourse on media a range of global and local perspectives.

Started in 2017, TMR has grown into South Asia’s largest media forum. It brings together top news professionals, tech innovators, policymakers, filmmakers, and investors from across the world to discuss the future of news, tech and policy. The 2019 edition featured over 120 speakers, attracted a footfall of about 11,000 and earned nearly 7.5 million video views.

The fourth edition of TMR, titled TMR@Online, will be a digital-only forum. Scheduled for September 2020, TMR@Online will feature conversations and discussions on some of the most pressing issues concerning the news media sector – the COVID-19 pandemic, press freedom, hate news, and the future of news in an age of digital transformation. It will also feature sessions on topics that are often brushed under the carpet, such as gender and composition of Indian media houses, the economics of news, and access journalism. TMR@online is set to be one of South Asia’s most diverse media fora, featuring speakers from across geographies and news cultures.

The Jaipur Literature Festival, or JLF, is an annual literary festival[1] which takes place in the Indian city of Jaipur each January. It was founded in 2006.[2] It is the world’s largest free literary festival.[3]

The Diggi Palace Hotel serves as the main venue of the festival, with sessions held in the Hall of Audience and throughout the gardens of the Diggi Palace in the city centre.

The festival directors are the writers Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and it is produced by Sanjoy Roy of Teamwork Arts. Surina Narula is the Founder Sponsor and Festival Advisor for the literature festival. The Festival is an Initiative of the Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF) founded by Faith Singh,[4] originally as a segment of the Jaipur Heritage International Festival in 2006, and developed into a free-standing festival of literature standing on its own feet in 2008.[1] JVF’s Community Director Vinod Joshi is its regional advisor. All events at the festival are free and not ticketed.

Teamwork curates and develops its festivals and programmes with a wide variety of artistes from across the globe.
