Palak Shah

Born in Banaras, Palak moved to Delhi when she was 20 years old. However, her sentimental attachment to her hometown has always been a rich and inimitable source of inspiration. Palak’s journey with Ekaya began soon after she completed her undergraduate studies in London. Her experiences around the globe molded her understanding of socio-cultural influences on daily and occasion dressing across different age groups today. Often for inspiration, she turns to the interrelationship between clothes, personality and cultural atmosphere within different communities and countries. Palak was instrumental in facilitating all of Ekaya’s collaborations, with Abraham & Thakore, Play Clan, Archana Rao, Fédération Française de la Création Couture Sur Measure at Paris Haute Couture Week, Ashdeen Lilaowala and Masaba Gupta. Her latest brainchild, Thaan by Ekaya is the technical, creative and aesthetic fountainhead for all of Ekaya’s collections. It reflects her research work and hints of her creative vision for the future of textile engineering within Ekaya. Moving forward, she aims to develop Ekaya as a cultural initiative for admirers of handloom work. Palak’s mindful initiatives and a contemporary leadership style demonstrate how the brand is not just rooted in tradition, but is also responsive to modernity with an amalgamation of elegance and sophisticated flexibility.
