A master painter and nationally acclaimed graphic artist, Jalal is considered a living legend in his native country of Uzbekistan. The works featured here demonstrate the artist’s energetic experimentation and pioneering desire to communicate beyond cultural boundaries and even his own preconceptions.
Abstraction for Jalal means freedom of choice, where his colours, symbols, and fluid lines become “envoys of eternity”.
His visual language, both figurative and geometrical, is deeply rooted in and unlimited by Uzbek culture and Oriental mysticism, which cast the material world as an illusory fiction. His weaving together of European iconography and principles makes for an original tapestry of styles across time and geographies.
