Marie Banu has attended the Master Class in Social Accounting and Audit conducted by Mr. Patrick Boase and Mr. Alan Kay of Social Audit Network, UK; and been mentored by Mr. Mike Swain of Social Audit Network, UK and Ms. Latha Suresh of Social Audit Network, India. From 2010 she has been part of several Social Audit Assignments – both corporates as well as not-for-profits in India. She is also trained in SROI by Dr. Adam Richards of Social Value International and recognized as an accredited SROI and Social Value Trainer. She has audited the social accounts of Friends of Coconut Tree (Coconut Development Board) and Manappuram Foundation in Kerala; ICAI UAE (Dubai) Chapter; SOHAM in Kolkata; CONCERN, a de-addiction home in Chennai, and Vidya in Bengaluru. Besides, she has written the social accounts for Cognizant Outreach and facilitated the social accounts for Stella Maris College, Equitas Development Initiatives Trust, and Asirvad Microfinance Limited. POSH Committee Memberships

Marie Banu is a Regional Complaints Committee member (RCC) / Internal Complaints Committee member (ICC) for POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace) formed under clause (c) of SubSection (2) of Section 4 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prosecution, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 in leading organisations and adopts a gender-neutral approach. She served as ICC member in RBI, Chennai and Bosch Electric Drives Ltd, Oragadam.

She is presently an RCC member at Reserve Bank of India Staff College; ICC member at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, School of Vocational Education; Forbes Marshall; Mahle; Venutra Pranas; Stanley Engineered Fastening; and Borg Warner Morse TEC India Pvt. Ltd. She is also a member of Staff Grievance Redressal Cell at Loyola College and member of Anti-sexual Harassment Cell at SSS Shasun Jain College in Chennai.

She is a Member of Board of Studies, Department of Sociology, Stella Maris College and Madras School of Social Work. She also serves as a Guest faculty at Loyola College and other leading educational institutions.

    Marie Banu is a graduate in Sociology and a post graduate in Management and Computers. Presently, she is the Director of Centre for Social Initiative and Management (CSIM) Chennai.

    An accredited Social Auditor at Social Audit Network, India & Social Audit Network, UK, she is also an SROI and Social Value Trainer certified by Social Value International.

    She started her career in the social sector when she was 25. She has worked for International, Developmental organizations – DANIDA (Danish International Development Agency) and Oxfam International and National level NGOs – ActionAid India, Oxfam India, Indian Social Institute, to name a few.

    From 1999 to 2005, she led the fundraising for Oxfam in India. She handled the national and international media for Oxfam International’s tsunami response program in India from 2005 to 2009 and managed their affiliates’ – Oxfam Great Britain, Oxfam Novib (Netherlands), Oxfam America, Oxfam Australia, Intermon Oxfam (Spain), and Oxfam in Belgium – media and communication needs during this period.

    Marie Banu has received the REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship 2014-15 and Karmaveer Chakra (a global civilian honour given by the international confederation of NGO (iCONGO) in partnership with United Nations) for her commendable work for the society.
