But the entrepreneurial road is a challenging one, and more so for women, who face gender-specific challenges. There is much that can be done to support women entrepreneurs – and all of us can make a difference. As the first step toward change begins with education, the Pearl Initiative is proud to present a webinar dedicated to women in entrepreneurship and supporting women who are looking to set up their own businesses.

The Boy Scouts of America (the BSA) is one of the largest Scouting organizations in the United States of America and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with more than 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers. The BSA was founded in 1910, and since then, more than 110 million Americans have been participants in BSA programs at some time. The BSA is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.

Room to Read is a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, our innovative model focuses on deep, systemic transformation within schools in low-income countries during two time periods that are most critical in a child’s schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education. We work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions. By focusing on the quality of education provided within the communities and ensuring these outcomes are measured, we have created a model that can be replicated, localized, and sustained by governments. Room to Read has benefited Room to Read has benefitted more than 23 million children across 20 countries and over 40,700 communities and aims to reach 40 million children by 2025.

Lucy has been featured in a variety of publications, locally and internationally.

As an Angel Investor, Lucy is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and encouraging individuals to invest in the innovation space, because she believes that entrepreneurs are the foundation of any economy. The language of investing can be very opaque, which is why she also supports entrepreneurial skills being taught to the next generation.

As an investor she is active in a variety of ventures.
