Deane De Menezes

Deane De Menezes has over three years of experience working extensively in menstrual hygiene management and women’s health – while the subject was still taboo in the mainstream.

She works towards making the world more period friendly by conducting menstrual awareness sessions, installing sanitary napkin vending machines and looking for sustainable menstrual waste management solutions.

Deane has been a key note speaker on menstrual waste management under the Swacch Bharat Initiative held in Patna, Bihar organised by the Ministry of Drinking water and Sanitation.

In 2018, Deane was selected as the youngest recipient from India as a Queen’s Young Leader to received an Award from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace for her work in menstrual hygiene in the country.The Award, whose partners include the Royal Commonwealth Society, Comic Relief and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, included a one year leadership development course designed by the University of Cambridge, Institute of continuing education which Deane completed with top honours. She is currently an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society.

Deane featured in the Forbes Asia 30 under 30 list for 2019 for her work in the menstrual hygiene space in Asia and has also been a TEDx Speaker.
