Amit Shah

Over his career, Amit has started or nurtured multiple businesses in the financial sector to scale up their operations in India and across the globe. This includes his role as the co-founder and former Executive Director of Mumbai-headquartered IIFL Wealth Management — one of India’s largest wealth and asset management firms with footprint in 20+ locations in India and eight cities globally. He has close to two decades of experience in the financial services industry, including 13 years of advising global institutional investors.

Amit is credited for bringing a unique touch to the asset management business with the launch of innovative funds like IIFL Special Opportunities Fund, which has created a record of sorts in terms of fund size as well as marquee deals. He has head IIFL’s Asset Management business for domestic and offshore with assets under advisory/management of around US$5bn. The company has offices in New York, London, Toronto, Mauritius, Dubai and Singapore.

Prior to IIFL Group, Amit has been associated with Kotak Mahindra Inc, New York, Citi Group’s Wealth Management business and IDBI Bank. Amit is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from ICFAI and has a graduate degree in Commerce. His expert opinions get featured in leading Indian dailies like The Economic Times and Mint besides various international publications including wire services like Bloomberg.

As a renowned speaker, he has played a key role in advocating India as a key investment destination in various international meets and panel discussions of repute. Amit received ‘NRI of the Year’ Award 2016, for Asia Pacific Region. Besides other awards, Amit recently received the Udyog Rattan award from the prestigious Institute of Economic Studies.
