Dr. Chenraj Roychand is the Founder Chairman of Jain Group. A visionary leader, educationist, social entrepreneur, and angel investor, he has been promoting the educational and entrepreneurship sectors in India for more than two decades. Dr. Chenraj Roychand incepted Jain Group in 1990 with the aim of providing quality educational and entrepreneurial opportunities to the masses. He established Jain College in Bangalore that same year and it marked the beginning of his long and enduring tryst with education. His vision to generate a culture of educational excellence has led to the development of numerous successful educational institutions across India. He believes that education is the cornerstone for empowerment of people since it enables them to respond to opportunities, challenge their traditional roles, and change their lives.

Along with creating educational opportunities, Dr. Chenraj also initiated angel-investing firms, which provide the platform for youngsters to become entrepreneurs. His passion for entrepreneurship started from a very young age. Dr. Chenraj entered the world of business at the age of thirteen. He started his fledgling career with Reliance Industries and went on to become their best dealer consecutively from 1978 to 1990. During this period, he had the opportunity to work with Dr. Dhirubhai Ambani. Inspired by Mr. Ambani, in 1982, he started 800 retail outlets with an innovative concept in display that required lesser investment, which is now popular as “Bits” showrooms. Today, more than 30,000 shops exist under the same concept. Inspired by his own success as a young entrepreneur, Dr. Chenraj, spread the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the youth of the country by setting up entrepreneurship programmes at the college-level. He believes that educating the youth about the possibilities of entrepreneurship from a young age is the way forward to foster enterprises. Dr. Chenraj has a vision of nurturing 8,800 entrepreneurs in the coming years to fulfil his entrepreneurial ideology.

Best described as a man of vision and integrity, Dr Chenraj Roychand exemplifies the principles of truth, peace, and love. His presence instils awe and admiration among students and entrepreneurs. His single-handed perseverance has resulted in educational and entrepreneurial institutions of unparalleled stature, both in terms of infrastructure and personnel. A firm practitioner of philanthropy and social entrepreneurship, Dr Chenraj is involved in numerous projects, which help the economically backward people of the society. Opportunity schools like Jain Vidyaniketan in Amethi and Kanakapura give affordable education and excellent sports infrastructure to children from the rural areas. Radioactive CR 90.4 MHz, Bangalore’s first community radio, gives voice to the voiceless. With his mandate, the Jain Group is involved in meaningful and welfare driven projects focusing on health care, education, sustainable livelihood, infrastructure and social causes that positively impact the life of people.
